It all started in 1986 at the funeral services for Tom Colligan, Sr. when a few life-long friends decided it was time to start something special to gather friends and family rather than waiting for times of tragedy. With the mission clear, The Friendship Open was born. From that point, every year the founding fathers set off for the links to spread the message and have fun with close friends and family. What started out as a great idea turned into a long-standing tradition and has grown beyond the core group to include several pockets of friends and their families. The Friendship Open is less about the golf, and more about the chance to spend time with the people you wish you saw more often.
